Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation and the Hokkaido University Green Transformation Leading Research Center have begun a joint research project on the evaluation of corporate transition technologies from October 1, 2025.
This joint research project is a pioneering initiative that bridges GX finance and GX technology through industry-academia collaboration in Sapporo, Hokkaido, which has been designated as a special zone for GX finance and asset management.
This research will investigate and study the current status of research and development of transition technologies necessary for realizing a decarbonized society, as well as the prospects for their practical application, and will also consider methods for developing transition scores. This will support the sustainable growth of investee companies through support for their transitions, and contribute to the promotion of GX throughout Japan from the GX Finance and Asset Management Special Zone. This is expected to lead to the following:
- Forming an information platform that enables financial institutions to accurately understand companies' GX strategies and provide them to investors
- Investors are making science-based investment decisions to boost GX investments
- GHG-intensive industries will smoothly introduce transition technologies
- Building a healthy investment chain through dialogue between investors and companies
