Hokkaido University Library will hold a special panel exhibition to commemorate its 150th anniversary, "Ancient Maps of the North (Part 2): The Evolution of Maps of the North," from September 18th to October 8th.

The library's Northern Materials Collection includes a wide range of materials related to Japan's northern regions, with a focus on Hokkaido, ranging from Japanese and Chinese books from the Edo period to contemporary publications, including photographs and maps from the Hokkaido Development Commission. In particular, the systematic collection of maps and drawings of Hokkaido (Ezo), Karafuto, and the Kuril Islands makes this a particularly fascinating collection.
