Research Faculty of Agriculture at Hokkaido University will hold a public "Nitobe Inazo Memorial Lecture" on September 27th as part of Homecoming Day 2025, a countdown event marking the 150th anniversary of the founding of Hokkaido University.
At this event, Koichi Matsuzawa (former CEO of Kirin Brewery and Chairman of the Jomo Club) will give a lecture titled "Looking Back at the Sapporo Agricultural College Spirit." While the world is in turmoil due to division and conflict, similar situations existed in Japan and the United States before the founding of Sapporo Agricultural College. It seems that the wisdom and talent to overcome these challenges were gathered at Sapporo Agricultural College at the time. He will share the lessons and insights he gained from his six years as a graduate student and his involvement with his alma mater through Nitobe College and alumni activities after turning 60.
