The Space Environment Systems Engineering Laboratory, School of Engineering Faculty of Engineering, Hokkaido University, cooperated in the filming of a commercial for AC Japan's 2025 Hokkaido regional campaign, "Far Away - A Challenge from Hokkaido."
The commercial, with the theme "Dreams and Challenges from Hokkaido," features Olympic gold medalist Kitaguchi Haruka, who continues to challenge the world in javelin throwing, and members of the Space Environment Systems Engineering Laboratory, who are researching hybrid rockets. By superimposing scenes of Kitaguchi's throw and the rocket launch, the commercial conveys the image of Hokkaido's challenges, driven forward with strong energy towards their dreams. It is intended to encourage those who are taking on challenges, or who want to take on challenges.
The footage was shot in a research facility on the Hokkaido University campus, and shows cutting-edge space engineering research at work, including students engaged in rocket combustion experiments and meetings.
