Center for Advanced Tourism Studies (CATS) at Hokkaido University will hold the 55th Online Tourism Creation Forum on September 3rd.
The theme of the forum is "Reception of Anime-Related Content in Scandinavia: Polylocalization among Young People in a Gender-Equal Society." Nordic countries, such as Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway, may be associated with gender equality and welfare states. However, in a society where discrimination due to gender equality and prejudice against Asian culture lurk, young people are reconstructing Japanese anime and anime-related content (such as cosplay) as their own culture. This forum will report on a survey conducted by the speaker in Scandinavia in 2024 and discuss tourism.
