The Center for Research on Global Risks (CGR) at Nagasaki University and the Survival Strategies Research Unit at Slavic-Eurasian Research Center (SRCW) at Hokkaido University will hold an emergency seminar entitled "Considering the Israel-Iran War: International Order, Nuclear Weapons, and Trump 2.0" on July 2nd.
In June 2025, the Israeli military launched a large-scale military attack on Iran and began bombing uranium enrichment facilities and military facilities throughout the country. This was followed by bombings of civilian facilities, residential areas, and the state-run broadcasting station, and it is speculated that this was not only aimed at stopping Iran's nuclear development, but also at overthrowing the Iranian regime. On the 21st, the US military also bombed related facilities, making the situation even more unpredictable, and even the possibility of nuclear war has begun to be discussed. In light of this situation, the Survival Strategy Research Unit Slavic-Eurasian Research Center of Hokkaido University and the Global Risk Research Center of Nagasaki University will begin an emergency seminar with Middle East and nuclear experts to look at the future direction of the international order.
