The Second Division of the Science Council of Japan, the Hokkaido Regional Council of the Science Council of Japan, and Hokkaido University will hold an open symposium of the Science Council of Japan entitled "How to prepare for the next emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases" on August 7th.
Zoonotic diseases, which are pathogens carried by wild animals in the natural world that invade society and spread to humans, account for the majority of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases that have become a problem in the international community in recent years and are an urgent issue that is still difficult to eradicate. At this symposium, experts in zoonotic disease countermeasures, vaccine development, drug discovery, structural analysis, mathematical models, and public policy will share the latest knowledge and aim to increase public understanding and strengthen regional resilience on how to prepare for the next emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
