The First Division of the Science Council of Japan, the Hokkaido Regional Chapter of the Science Council of Japan, and Future University Hakodate will hold a public symposium entitled "Considering the meaning of 'dialogue' in the age of AI - knowledge and society woven through deliberation" on August 10th.

The rapid advancement of AI is bringing about major changes to our lives and society. In this context, the meaning and possibilities of "dialogue" with others are being questioned anew. In this symposium, entitled "Considering the Meaning of 'Dialogue' in the Age of AI: Knowledge and Society Woven Through Deliberation," we will discuss the significance and challenges of dialogue from a variety of perspectives, including history, philosophy, area studies, linguistics, law, and sociology.
Confronting the past, understanding different cultures and values, building social rules - dialogue is always at the root of these activities. In the first part, experts from various fields will present various points of discussion surrounding dialogue. Based on this, in the second part, we will use philosophical dialogue methods to think deeply about "dialogue in the age of AI" together with the participants.
