The Department of Conservative Dentistry at Hokkaido University Faculty of Dental Medicine is attempting a crowdfunding campaign called "Making cavities visible and protecting teeth with dental photonics!"

Hokkaido University's Department of Conservative Dentistry is promoting education on Photonics-based caries detection (PBCD), which uses 405 nm light to fluoresce bacterial protoporphyrin, allowing infected areas of caries-causing bacteria to be visualized and removed. With PBCD, infected areas can be visually grasped through the use of cameras and microscopes capable of irradiating 405 nm light, making it possible to remove caries-causing bacteria with a high degree of accuracy.

This crowdfunding campaign aims to popularize PBCD by providing hands-on training and case study materials for dentists in Hokkaido. We appreciate your support in this initiative that connects research and clinical practice.
