School of Engineering at Hokkaido University, with the cooperation of The Hokkaido Shimbun Press and Dentsu Hokkaido Inc., and partner companies both within and outside of Hokkaido, has launched a project called "We are Engine. --Female engineers are the engine of the world-" with the aim of increasing the number of women who aspire to become engineers.

The "We are Engine" project aims to increase the proportion of women in the engineering field by highlighting women who are active in the field and visualizing role models for junior and senior high school students. Furthermore, it aims to promote innovation in companies and universities and strengthen the industrial competitiveness of Japan.

A press conference was held on Friday, June 13th, and was attended by many members of the press. In addition, to coincide with International Women in Engineering Day on Monday, June 23rd, a 30-column double-page advertisement for this project was placed in the Hokkaido Shimbun newspaper's morning edition.
