Faculty of Environmental Earth Science at Hokkaido University will hold the 2025 Public Lecture Series, "Chemistry for the Earth: A Challenge for a Sustainable Future," from August 26 to September 24.
Chemistry is the study of the structure and properties of matter. It is also the foundation for solving environmental and energy problems. Because matter is influenced by its environment, such as harmonizing with the surrounding environment and responding to external stimuli, chemistry, which allows us to understand the structure and properties of matter, is very important. Living organisms also live in harmony with other species and the environment through chemical substances. In this course, we will provide a basic understanding of the phenomena occurring in the microscopic world from the perspective of chemistry, and will also provide an easy-to-understand explanation of how chemistry can contribute to global issues, including the latest research results. We look forward to seeing many of you taking the course.
