A new article, “No. 13 ‘Flat Earthers and the rise of conspiracy theories,’” has been published in the President's Column on the special website for Kiyohiro Houkin, the 20th President of Hokkaido University.

In the President's Column, Hokkaido University President Kiyohiro Houkin shares his daily thoughts while also touching on international topics surrounding the university. In consideration of the internationalization of the university, messages are sent in English so that international students and people living overseas can also read them. In this column, he uses the flat earth theory as an example to talk about his sense of crisis about anti-scientific thinking becoming active in conjunction with power, regarding global warming, the effectiveness of vaccines, etc.
