Hokkaido University's Institute for the Advancement of Sustainability and Liberal Arts Program, in collaboration with Sapporo City, will be offering a common graduate course, "Sapporo Zero Carbon Special Lecture," on August 26th (Tuesday), 28th (Thursday), and 29th (Friday).
Sapporo City aims to become a "zero carbon city" by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the city to virtually zero by 2050, and to achieve this, concrete strategies and proposals are required to promote decarbonization actions by citizens and businesses. In this class, students will learn about Sapporo City's efforts toward decarbonization and understand the challenges each stakeholder faces. Graduate students with various fields of expertise will work together to generate ideas for a decarbonized society from new perspectives and compile them into concrete proposals.
