Hokkaido University Public Policy School (HOPS) held a celebration to mark its 20th anniversary in Sapporo on Saturday, March 8th.
In an age of globalization and diversification, the importance of policies issued by private companies and non-profit organizations is also increasing. While the leadership of national government officials remains important, there is now a demand for more flexible thinking and a wealth of policy knowledge to be able to respond to new policy issues and build partnerships with a variety of actors. Hokkaido University Public Policy School (HOPS) is a professional graduate school established to nurture a diverse range of human resources in response to this era of a dramatic increase in the number of policymakers.
More than 120 people participated in the celebration, from the professors who have been with the school since its establishment to the first batch of graduates and the current 20th batch. It was a very valuable opportunity to look back on the history of the graduate school while sharing memories in a friendly atmosphere. The graduate school intends to continue to make further efforts in education and research on public policies to solve domestic and international issues. We hope to receive even more understanding and cooperation from all involved.
