The Earthquake and Volcano Research Observation Center, Graduate Faculty of Science Hokkaido University, will hold the 2025 symposium "Earthquakes and tsunamis along the Japan Sea coast: Learning from the Noto Peninsula earthquake" on March 15th.

The Earthquake and Volcano Research Center, Graduate Faculty of Science Hokkaido University, holds an annual symposium on earthquakes and volcanoes for the general public. This time, we will focus on the characteristics of earthquakes and tsunamis that have become clear from surveys and observations of earthquakes off the coast of Noto Peninsula, as well as past major earthquakes and tsunamis that have occurred on the Japan Sea side of Hokkaido, and will present in an easy-to-understand manner the results of research into the hazard assessment of earthquakes and tsunamis on the Japan Sea side.
