The Faculty of School of Law 's emblem has been renewed for the first time in 60 years, and a new logo mark has been created.

The elm trees on the Hokkaido University campus grow vigorously, absorbing plenty of nutrients from the rich soil, and young leaves sprout from their sturdy trunks. The logo of School of Law at Hokkaido University is based on such a "giant elm tree."

Law and political science are endeavors that aim to realize a free and equal society. The young leaves growing in various directions represent freedom, while the symmetrical design represents equality. This design also expresses the determination of students and faculty to study freely in the space of Hokkaido University's School of Law, to broaden their world in their own way, and to grow. The book in the center symbolizes law and political science, which are fountains of human wisdom that our predecessors have built up since ancient times, and the branches and leaves of different colors spreading out on either side represent the two wings of these academic disciplines that make up Hokkaido University's School of Law.
