Imec (Leuven, Belgium), a world-leading research and innovation center for nanoelectronics and digital technologies, and Hokkaido University (Sapporo, Hokkaido) signed an agreement on November 7, 2024 to explore collaboration in the field of semiconductors. The aim is to contribute to the development of Japan's semiconductor ecosystem by leveraging the strengths of both institutions to promote innovation.

 

The MOU aims to explore collaboration opportunities to contribute to the development of Japan's semiconductor ecosystem by working with local R&D companies to advance the semiconductor field, with a focus on the development of use cases for 2nm semiconductors. The signing of this MOU is expected to promote joint R&D and human resource development opportunities between the two institutions. The collaboration between imec and Hokkaido University is expected to bring high added value to both institutions and contribute to the development of Japan's semiconductor ecosystem.
