CoSTEP (Communication in Science & Communication in Science & Technology Education & Research Program (CoSTEP) Program) at Hokkaido University will hold the 139th Science Cafe Sapporo, "Informative Stories about Snow - The Science of Snow in Hokkaido" on February 10th.
At this Science Cafe Sapporo, Associate Professor Yosuke Sato of Faculty of Science at Hokkaido University, who uses supercomputers to study the mechanisms of clouds and lightning, will talk about the formation of snow, its growth process, and the future of snow in Hokkaido due to global warming. Associate Professor Sato is originally a basic researcher with a background in physics. Using research on clouds, lightning, and snow as examples, he will also talk about the appeal and potential of basic science.
