The Innovation Working Group of the Coalition of Universities and Other Institutions Contributing to Achieving Carbon Neutrality will be co-hosting the "6th Symposium of the Innovation Working Group of the Coalition of Universities and Other Institutions Contributing to Achieving Carbon Neutrality" with the International Collaboration and Cooperation Working Group on November 26th.

The Coalition of Universities Contributing to Achieving Carbon Neutrality ("University Coalition") is a network of universities led by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of the Environment, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, which aims to improve the functions and communication capabilities of the national and local governments, companies, and universities both in Japan and overseas through strengthened collaboration toward the realization of carbon neutrality by 2050. It is made up of five working groups, with Hokkaido University serving as the steering committee for the "International Collaboration and Cooperation Working Group."

To achieve carbon neutrality, in addition to collaboration between universities, companies, and the country, international collaboration to solve global issues is essential. This symposium will clarify the technical and social issues facing carbon neutrality, and speakers will introduce various efforts to solve them. We will also discuss how to revitalize future WG activities from a global perspective. Professor Taro Yamauchi of Faculty of Health Sciences at Hokkaido University will be speaking in the second part, "Industry-Academia-Government-Private Collaboration and International Development," and in the panel discussion.
