The Hokkaido University Graduate School Education Reform Promotion Organization and Ph.Discover will hold the "2nd Semiconductor Dreams: Let's Dance in a Circle in Hokkaido! 2024 - Looking to the Future to Support Society 5.0" event on November 26th.
In modern society, technologies such as AI, IoT, and self-driving cars are evolving rapidly, bringing about dramatic changes in our lives. Semiconductors are at the core of these technologies, and their importance has been likened to "the oil of the 21st century." What is needed now in the age of Society 5.0 is comprehensive scholarship that transcends the boundaries between the arts and sciences.
Now, in this second event, we will focus on the materials and manufacturing equipment that support the semiconductor industry, and explore their advanced research and technological development. The semiconductor industry is a highly advanced industry in which various elements, from materials and manufacturing equipment to social infrastructure, are intricately intertwined. For this reason, learning about the fundamental technologies that support the entire industry and the perspectives of manufacturers will be the key to future technological innovation.
We will also learn about the state-of-the-art logic semiconductor manufacturing project by Rapidus in Hokkaido, which is bringing new vitality to the local economy, how the project is evolving through collaboration with material and machinery manufacturers, and explore together the possibilities that the semiconductor industry can bring.
