The East Asia Media Studies Center, affiliated with Research Faculty of Media and Communication Hokkaido University, will hold a "Documentary Film Festival to Consider Postwar East Asia" on October 27th.

We will be screening documentary films about post-colonialism and democratization in East Asia. "Japanese who became gods in Taiwan and their descendants" will look at how the descendants of former Japanese soldiers who became gods in Taiwan interact with present-day Taiwan, "A Dreamy Hometown" will look at the lives of women who were educated under Japanese rule, and "Hong Kong, Betrayed Promises" will look at the voices of people who participated in the Umbrella Movement. Through these films, we will take the time to think about the current state of East Asia.
