School of Agriculture at Hokkaido University and The Hokkaido Shimbun Press will be holding the 42nd Agricultural University Parent-Child Lecture: "Do Grass and Trees Freeze in the Dead of Winter?" on November 8th, an experiential course that teaches participants about food and agriculture using their minds and bodies.

The lecturer will be Associate Professor Keita Arakawa of Research Faculty of Agriculture. Compared to Honshu, winters in Sapporo are long and very cold. Do you know how the plants and trees that grow well in summer survive the harsh winter? Do plants and trees hibernate like bears during the long winter? If it gets cold enough that water freezes, will the trees and plants freeze too? Let's take a look at what plants and trees look like in the middle of winter.
