The SRIREP Project and the Masatoshi Sasaoka Laboratory at the Hokkaido University Faculty of Humanities and Human Sciences will hold an open seminar entitled "Considering the future of TD research" on October 25th.

Transdisciplinary research (TD research) is a style of research in which researchers and people involved in a problem work together to solve the problem, from designing and implementing the research to putting the solution into practice. In this seminar, we will focus on the problem of mercury pollution caused by ASGM (small-scale gold mining), which is widely practiced in developing countries, and consider the future of TD research. Specifically, Masayuki Sakakibara, who led the "SRIREP Project" (2019-2023), which aims to clarify the path to solving the problem of mercury pollution caused by ASGM, will report on the results of the project. After that, we will consider the challenges in advancing TD research through comments from Professor Taro Yamauchi of Faculty of Health Sciences and Professor Masatoshi Kasaoka of Faculty of Humanities and Human Sciences, Hokkaido University, who have been involved in TD research, and through discussion with the audience.
