The Hokkaido Wine Education and Research Center, a Hokkaido University joint project base, will open its building to the public from September 6th and will begin offering paid tastings of Hokkaido wines.

The paid tasting, entitled "Hokkaido University Wine Tasting Lab," aims to convey the appeal of Hokkaido wines to the general public, and is also significant as part of research into the relationship between wine's chemical components and palatability. A coin-operated wine server will be installed in the venue, and 12 types of Hokkaido wines will be available for tasting at all times. The wine selection will be changed regularly, and will also include wines made from grapes from Hokkaido University's Yoichi Orchard, which are generally difficult to obtain. Enjoy the appeal of Hokkaido wines in the building with the longest history on the Sapporo campus.
