The Coalition of Universities Contributing to Achieving Carbon Neutrality (hereinafter referred to as the University Coalition), in which our university participates, will hold a general symposium online on September 27th.

The University Coalition was established in July 2021 to achieve carbon neutrality, and three years have passed since its establishment. In addition to numerous academic institutions, the participation of companies is also increasing. This fourth symposium will focus on the theme of "International Trends and International Collaboration Towards Carbon Neutrality." In the keynote speech, Josep (Pep) Canadell of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) of Australia will introduce examples of international carbon projects and talk about how these activities are evolving internationally with the participation of stakeholders. At this symposium, we will look back on the activities of the University Coalition to date and discuss future activities.

Hokkaido University is one of the coordinating institutions for the International Collaboration and Cooperation Working Group in the University Coalition, and is responsible for planning and proceeding with this symposium. Professor Taro Yamauchi Faculty of Health Sciences will serve as the facilitator for the panel discussion.
