The Hokkaido University Doushin Academy is a new learning space opened in April 2018 in cooperation with Hokkaido University and the Doushin Group for the purpose of regional "knowledge." We are pleased to announce that we have begun accepting applications for the second half of the 2024 academic year.
In the second semester of the Hokudai Doshin Academy, the general course will transcend the boundaries between science and humanities, and students will think about animals and human society together with experts in each field. The science course will be taught by Faculty of Information Science and Technology, and students will learn about the future of society through cutting-edge research in AI, robotics, data science, and more. We have started accepting new students, so please consider taking our courses. We look forward to seeing you.
[General Course] Animals and Human Society: Reexamining the Issues from the Perspectives of Science, History, and Culture
Animals are familiar and fascinating. Humans have been influenced by animals, and have had a huge impact on them, leading to the development of culture, science, and technology. However, we are now in an era where we must reexamine this one-sided relationship, such as the damage caused by wild animals and animal welfare. We need to face these issues beyond the framework of "science" and "humanities." Taking advantage of the strengths of Hokkaido University as a comprehensive university, Hokkaido University Doshin Academy will open a new "Comprehensive Course" from the second half of 2024.
[Science Course] The view from information science: The future society unfolding from the fusion of the digital and real worlds
In recent years, advances in AI technology have enabled innovative services such as text and image generation, while data science has made it possible to analyze big data such as genome information. Hokkaido University is also conducting cutting-edge information science research in a wide range of fields, including AI, robotics, data science, and semiconductors. Through lectures by researchers active at the forefront, students will learn about the future society brought about by the fusion of the digital and real worlds.
