The Hokkaido University Graduate Faculty of Humanities and Human Sciences and Humanities Café Planning Working Group will hold the 33rd Hokkaido University Literature café, “The sounds Basho heard, the sounds I hear – Interpretation and shared knowledge of classical Japanese literature” at Kinokuniya Sapporo Bookstore on July 28th.

The theme of the 33rd Hokkaido University Literature café is "Interpretation of Haiku." Is what "I" see through a scene depicted in 17 characters really the same as what "someone" next to me sees? The speaker will be Associate Professor Yoko Minami of the Japanese Classical Culture Studies Lab. For those who cannot attend the venue on the day, there will also be an opportunity to watch the event online afterwards.
