The Hokkaido University School of Agriculture, Graduate School of Agriculture, and Research Faculty of Agriculture will hold the 69th Clock Tower Salon: "Ask School of Agriculture" on June 12th.

The theme of the 69th session is "Plant Wisdom." Plants produce a wide variety of chemical substances that play important roles in defense against pests and pathogens, and in signal transmission to establish symbiotic relationships. Some of these substances are also used as active ingredients in herbal medicines and functional foods, and as plant chemical regulators in agriculture. Professors Hideyuki Matsuura and Yasuko Sakihama of Research Faculty of Agriculture will talk about the functions of these substances in plants and examples of their use in our lives.
