The Hokkaido University Institute for the Advancement of Sustainability and the Northern Advancement Center for Science & Technology (NorthTech Foundation) will exhibit autonomous vehicles as follows.

In Japan, where the population is decreasing and the birthrate is declining and the population is aging, problems such as the lack of accessible means of transportation are becoming more serious, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to secure stable and continuous local transportation that supports daily life, such as local economic activities and commuting to hospitals and schools. This is an urgent matter.
In order to solve this problem, we invite expert lecturers from three perspectives: "cold regions," "autonomous driving," and "local production and consumption of energy." We introduce the latest information and work on considering the state of local transportation. Local governments, transportation companies, energy companies, university officials, and others come together to conduct research to improve the future of regional public transportation in Hokkaido. As part of these efforts, we will be exhibiting self-driving vehicles that are expected to improve on-campus transportation in order to interest citizens, including students, and give them an opportunity to think about the future.
