Sea urchin content has been published on the special website "Fish of the Month (FoM)*" of our university's Faculty of Fisheries Sciences.

In this FoM, we will discuss the topic of "sea urchins".

I used to think that sea urchins were marine animals that had been thoroughly studied, but new research has been conducted on efficient seedling production and release, the physiology of maturation, the function of intestinal bacteria, and many interesting new scientific discoveries have been made. Results continue to be achieved. It is no exaggeration to say that these studies are largely dependent on those who currently work at or have graduated from the Hokkaido University Graduate Faculty of Fisheries Sciences. Sea urchins are marine creatures that are indispensable to the seas of Hokkaido. Sea urchin also adds color to Japanese New Year's dishes. Enjoy learning about sea urchins.
