本学の北極域研究センターと＊HAI-FESは「第2回セミナー ～サステイナビリティ・サイエンスが目指す北極域の課題解決に向けて」を8月4日に開催します。
北極域では、急速な温暖化とそれに伴う種々の環境変化が起きています。北極社会が直面しているこれらの問題は、いずれ非北極圏でも遭遇することが予想されます。サイエンスには、分野をこえた連携や新たに生起する社会の課題や要請にこたえ、持続可能な課題解決策の実現に貢献することが求められています。大学の機能強化促進プロジェクトであるHAI-FESでは、北極域の課題解決につながる知見や情報を提供し、議論する機会となるセミナーを開催します。

本学の北極域研究者が部局を超えて結集し、北極域の持続可能な利用を目指した総合的な研究と同時に国際共同研究プラットフォームのFuture Earth(FE)と連携して北極域の課題解決に取り組むプロジェクト。
The Arctic region is experiencing rapid warming and various environmental changes associated with it. These problems faced by Arctic societies are expected to be encountered in non-Arctic regions as well. Science is expected to contribute to the realization of sustainable solutions to these problems through interdisciplinary collaboration and by responding to newly emerging social issues and demands. HAI-FES, a project to promote the strengthening of university functions, will periodically hold seminars to provide knowledge and information that will lead to solutions to Arctic issues and provide opportunities for discussion.
